September 28 Journal: Sleep, Sports, and Seasonal Chores

Journal Sunday 28th September

Morning all. I’m up at 5 this morning because Shelly decided 5.30 wasn’t quite early enough. Thankfully was in bed for 10 or so, and I’m sleeping properly again so I don’t feel entirely destroyed, but may nap again once I’ve got the fire fully operational. I guess I should tackle the boiler repair today. Deep joy. I did the barest minimum yesterday, got 2 loads of washing done (but not put away), moved various items back to next door after last weekends festivities. That was about all I could manage. If I can squeeze in another couple hours of sleep then I might tackle some more outside jobs. The grass desperately needs a cut, so. maybe late afternoon after a second dry day that might be possible. Although chestnut season is upon us and soon the area under our 2 chestnut trees will be completely awash with the spiky little buggers. Doesn’t make for easy mowing I can tell you.

England won the Rugby World Cup yesterday, which is awesome stuff. I thought Canada would put up more of a fight, but despite some great moments from them, England were just the better side. To see a full Twickenham for a ladies rugby match made my little heart happy.

First Strictly live show last night, and despite not being overly enamoured with the celebrities this year, flipping heck there’s some amazing potential. It might not be a total disaster.

Not much to say this morning, think I’m just a bit too tired.

Will attempt some more sleep now, while everyone else is out for the count.

TTFN,

Create a high-resolution, highly detailed featured image for a blog post that captures a cozy early morning scene. Highlight the warm glow of a soft fire in a fireplace and a cup of steaming coffee on a rustic table. Include subtle elements like a journal open with a pen, hinting at the reflective writing process. The light should be soft and inviting, emphasizing tranquility. In the background, depict a glimpse of autumnal outdoor chores with chestnut trees and freshly cut grass, reinforcing the themes of seasonal changes and household tasks. Ensure sharp focus on the foreground details to create an intimate atmosphere.
